"We're wild about the Cats!"
Welcome to the official website for the upcoming documentary film Wild About ’88: The Rise of Arizona Basketball. We are having a blast creating this passion project about one of the greatest college basketball teams to ever hit the hardwood, the 1987-88 Arizona Wildcats. The '88 team jumpstarted Arizona Basketball's passionate fanbase with their winning play and charming personalties, earning a #1 ranking in the national polls and reaching the first Final Four in school history.
With help from our Kickstarter backers, donors, and a small but mighty crew, we have accomplished something huge that once seemed impossible: Traveling across the United States from California to Vermont, we were able to film over 35 interviews documenting the origin story of this all-time great team and how it elevated Arizona Basketball to continued national prominence. In the process of capturing this oral history, we sat down with people like Lute Olson, Steve Kerr, Sean Elliott, Kenny Lofton, and Mike Bibby to hear their stories about that phenomenal team, and how Lute Olson helped turn a small desert city into a crazed college basketball mecca. In addition to Arizona legends, we also connected with college basketball luminaries Roy Williams, Jay Bilas, Dick Vitale, and Billy Packer to get their take on '88, Lute Olson, and the rise of Arizona Basketball. This totally independent production is closer than ever to being finished, and if you have a passion for this team and program like we do, there are many ways you can get involved to help make this film a reality. You can find updates on what’s new with the project here, and be sure to check out Brad's awesome Arizona Basketball podcast, Bear Down Bias on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Spreaker for additional Wildcats news and movie updates. We are forever grateful for your support and can’t wait to share this film with the Arizona Basketball nation. Bear Down, Brad & Sean |
